Top 10 Soulful Final Fantasy Games Part 2

Number 4

Final Fantasy 5 was not the first game to introduced a job system but it was the first title that let you delve into the changing of jobs and character customization. I played it when it came out for the Playstation 1, along with Chrono Trigger and til this day it's still the funnest of the SNES FF Triglogy.

Number 3

I loved Final Fantasy 8, I liked the interface, the setting, the battle system, the draw system, the Gardens and the Summoning system. I even liked Square Soft's attempt at a modern sci-fi love story. The only thing that kept it from the top 2 spots were tough competition and a story that jumps the shark after disc 2.

Number 2

Before you being out the pitchforks and torches, I would like to remind you that this list is based on my opinion. I put Final Fantasy 7 in the runner-up spot because of how fleshed out the world is and how likeable the characters are. Honestly I would have put FF7 below FF8 but I cannot deny the impact this game has had on the franchise and the gaming industry in general. So thank you FF7 for reinvigorating the JRpg genre at the time and introducing the people of America to the genre.

Honorable Mention

Had Tactics been part of the main title, this would be in the number 1 spot. It's an incredible game that I have replayed over and over again and will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Number 1

It's no surprise to find all 3 of the Playstation Golden Era of Final Fantasy in the top 3 spotsl This was where the FF games were perfected and has not been improved upon since.

Final Fantasy 9 was a giant love letter to fans of the series. They went back to the SNES formula and gave it a Playstation 1 make over. With colourful supporting characters and a cheeky main character, this game earns the number 1 spot in my list for being pure Final Fantasy goodness. The world is giant and feels like a living being with towns having a mix of medieval and urban feels. The lore is deep and exciting and the main characters are all very endearing. Thank you for the love letter Square, this list is my love letter to the best game in the series, Final Fantasy 9.
